AI MealFinder ("the app") is operated by Alec Andsager. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the app.

1. Information We Collect

Photos you take: When you use the Scan feature, the app captures photos of your fridge, pantry, or other food items. These photos are sent to a third-party AI service (Anthropic's Claude API) for ingredient identification and recipe generation. Photos are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored on our servers or by the AI provider.

Account information: If you create an account, we collect your name and email address.

Preferences: We store your dietary preferences, allergies, meal schedule, and household size locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data is not transmitted to external servers unless needed for recipe generation.

Usage data: We track basic usage metrics such as scan count (for free tier limits) stored locally on your device.

Subscription data: If you subscribe to AI MealFinder Pro, payment is processed through Apple's App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. We do not have access to your payment details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Identify ingredients from photos of your fridge and pantry
Generate personalized recipe suggestions based on your available ingredients
Respect your dietary preferences and allergies when generating recipes
Track your free scan usage and manage subscription access
Improve the app experience
3. Third-Party AI Service

AI MealFinder uses Anthropic's Claude API to analyze food photos and generate recipes. When you scan your kitchen:

Your photo is sent to Anthropic's API for processing
Your dietary preferences and allergies are included in the request to ensure safe recipe recommendations
Photos are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored by Anthropic
No other personal data (name, email, location) is sent to the AI provider

4. Data Storage

Most of your data is stored locally on your device, including:

Saved recipes and recipe history
Shopping list items
Dietary preferences, allergies, and meal schedule
Ingredient scan history
App settings and preferences
This data is not uploaded to external servers. It remains on your device and can be deleted at any time by deleting your account or uninstalling the app.

5. Subscription Management

Subscriptions are managed through RevenueCat and Apple's App Store:

AI MealFinder Pro costs $4.99 per month
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account
Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
You can manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings
6. Account Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile screen within the app. Deleting your account will permanently remove all locally stored data including saved recipes, preferences, and scan history. Active subscriptions should be canceled through your Apple ID settings before deleting your account.

7. Children's Privacy

AI MealFinder is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Photos sent to the AI service are transmitted securely via HTTPS. Local data is stored using the device's built-in storage mechanisms.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date.
